Thank you Cathy!

Updated: Feb 20

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Sanctuary Village, it is with profound gratitude and admiration that we celebrate the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication of our founder, Catharine "Cathy" Farrell. Cathy’s journey with Sanctuary Village began with nothing more than a dream—a dream born out of compassion and a heartfelt commitment to providing hope and dignity to those experiencing homelessness. What started as a small idea fueled by an enormous desire to help has transformed into a thriving organization, now equipped with a full board and staff passionately carrying forward her vision.

Cathy’s leadership was marked by resilience, determination, and a steadfast belief in the power of community. From the earliest days, when resources were scarce and the challenges seemed insurmountable, Cathy’s resolve never wavered. She inspired others to join her mission, laying the foundation for what Sanctuary Village has become today: a beacon of hope and a catalyst for meaningful change.

In 2024, Cathy stepped down as Chair of the Board, leaving an indelible mark on the organization she built from the ground up. Though she no longer serves as our chair, Cathy continues to play an integral role as a member of our Advisory Board. Her wisdom, guidance, and unwavering passion for the cause remain invaluable as we strive to fulfill the dream she set in motion.

The Board of Directors and staff of Sanctuary Village remain steadfast in our commitment to honoring Cathy’s vision. We are united in our determination to continue the work she started, guided by the principles of empathy, innovation, and collaboration that she so deeply embodies.

Cathy, thank you for being the heart and soul of Sanctuary Village. Your dream has become our mission, and your legacy will forever inspire us to build a brighter, more inclusive future for all. It is our honor to carry your vision forward, ensuring that Sanctuary Village remains a place of refuge, hope, and transformation for years to come.
